And here we find ourselves at the crossroad we were evading..
Hoping all it took was hope and little persuading.

Not realizing it was ourselves we were running from..
Now left with distance and confusion because its done.

But I want you to know you meant more than I expressed and...
this is something I needed to get off my chest.

Too delicate of a phase in both of our lives..
May have been culprit we didn't seem to realize.

I guess that's what happens when we don't say what's on our mind..
We end up destroying something we with we could rewind.

I sit here in silence thinking of better times. You and I, just us two, back when you were mine.

I've dealt with the deepest cuts
Right to the bone
Something that made me stronger
Something I went through alone.
I was guilty of a good heart
Guilty of second chances
But all that it brought me
was consequences...
It's been a while since I've reminisced
that part of life that I've erased
But that hurt you gave me
No longer holds its place.
I'm not gonna lie it tore me to pieces
Took a while to rebuild
But now I'm a phoenix.
I rose from the ashes of a cold hearted soul
It taught me how to navigate
It taught me my role.
You gave me the keys
To a door closed tight
I'll never look back
Out of mind , out of sight.

I had you at goodbye
I'm finally walking away
You finally opened your eyes.
But now it seems too late
Too late for another chance
I gave you too many
I'm not giving it another glance.
You turned down happiness
You turned down truth
You turned down someone who would do anything for you.
The grass is always greener
Where it's not supposed to be
But I'm not your little puppet
You can not control me.
You thought you could find better
You thought she was the best thing
But now you realize I'm gone for good
And do not want anything you bring.
So you can keep watching
You can keep stalking
You can keep the memories
And you can keep walking..
The veil is finally off
And now I see my worth
The moment you walked out of my life
Was the day of my rebirth.

Like waves on water
thoughts ripple in my mind...
Must be because you're meant to be there
God, please release this bind.
Enough time has passed...
waiting on your return
And in that time I found my worth
Feeling pain is now your turn.
You can take your ego
you can take that pride...
Take all the secrets you held from me
you thought that you could hide.
What were you willing to do?
Was it that easy to let me go?
Go ahead and take that bow now
because you put on quite a show.
You can also take the mask off,
the one I knew all along...
The love I had for you blinded me
While you were the one in the wrong.
But thanks to you I'm healing
You awakened my true spirit...
The one I thought I lost
My feelings dormant in it.
So I guess that I'll say thank you
even if it came at a price...
But I know who I can trust now
And who's just playing nice.

Sometimes I wonder if I did all I could
If I tried and gave it my all..
Makes me wonder how you're doing
If you've attempted to call.
Thinking back at the good times..
The times I can't forget
But reality makes it cloudy
With decisions I regret.
It's funny how life can change so fast
At a quick moment's instant..
Makes me wonder who I used to be
Keeps my life a little distant.
I do admit I'm not the same
I haven't been for a while..
And maybe that's a good thing
The frown behind the smile.
I took some time to think things through
Wondering where I might've went wrong..
It's a pity you're no longer here..
To show you the ways I grew strong.
To say that you're forgotten would only be a lie
You haunt my thoughts; emotionally..
And it sometimes makes me cry.
A woman will always be weak
For the one that got away..
But I found myself through the caprice
The real me is here to stay.
I don't pretend to be happy
I don't deny my true self..
I'm proud that I've moved on now
Through all the ways I felt.
Too much time occupied with thoughts of you
To know I can finally breathe now
Is more than I choose to do.
Sometimes I wonder if my ego got the best of me..
Did it push you away or break you free?
I guess it doesn't"t matter now
Things happen because they just do..
I wish I could go back in time
to just apologize to you.
What hurts the most is uncertainty
The thought of not knowing why..
Maybe that's how you wanted it
The truth, too intense, so you lied.
Whatever the case you're in my thoughts
Yet not in the same way..
Maybe you're just hard to forget..
Maybe that's all I can say.

It was you from the beginning
Craddled in my hand.
When the flames turned to dust
It was just like me not to understand.
Surrounded by what I thought was genuine
Perplexed by a love so strong.
Shame on me to dive in quickly
Shame on you to deny what went wrong.
You misunderstood my potential
Because you're "so stable."
Didn't realize your perception of me
Just like me to ignore the labels.
Is life good to you, tell me, is it?
Or is nothing ever enough?
Is it wrong of me to still care
Or just like me to be so tough.
It might have never been meant to be..
But the shame was on you, eventually.
